The O'Neill Gromtag is the junior version of the Surftag National Series offering junior surfers the chance to compete under the exciting tag team format. Each Boardriding Club is represented by five surfers made up by 4 under 20's and one under 16.
In relay style each surfer catches three waves and then returns to the beach to tag their team's next surfer. Heat duration is one hour with four teams contesting each heat, bonus points are on offer for each team's fifth surfer returning to the tag area on the beach. The top two teams from each heat progress to the next round.
Being the first heat in the water, it is obvious that we need to be up nice and early. We are meeting at the car park at South Maroubra at 5.30am (yes 5.30) before heading across the bridge to Avalon. If anyone is interested in car pooling over with us, come down early so we can sort out the best options. Regardless of how we go we will be celebrating and having a good time anyway. We will be taking over the BBQ and will have a good set up over there.
