ASL issue 248

We’re not going to lie, the latest issue of ASL is just chock a block full of bullshit waves. When Taj and a bunch of his mates scored what they’re calling the best waves they’ve ever seen (let alone surfed) on the east coast, we got the shots.

And for the first time in a little while now, we get back to what we’re best at, finding and documenting new waves. Andrew Mooney and Marti Paradisis had a fantasy about finding
their own slice of surfing heaven, and find it they did. Sleeping on floors with nothing but rice to eat for days on end, this was a proper mission, and the boys were rewarded. Click on the link to read the full story.

At the other end of the surfing spectrum, Tim Baker investigates the current state of competitive surfing, and talks to the heavy hitters of the sport about where it’s going next. Are surf comps boring? If they are, what can we change about them? Find out in the mag.

We also sent Jock Barnes to Byron Bay to hang out with Danny Wills for a great profile of the just-retired former wonder kid, and we salute him as he leaves pro surfing behind.

Plus there’s beautiful South Oz beachies, a bunch of super stretchy rubber and a celebration of this year’s Oakley ASL Big Wave Awards.

Hey guys, make sure you check out the ASL 250th issue, can't tell ya too much as the photographers in Sumbawa are holding my kids hostage if I let my photos out early.

Sweet Jim, how much did that cost ya? I'm heading over there in a few weeks - might get them to hold mine for a while too. Oh yeah, sounds good about the photos too!
