Its time to comb your fury teeth and put on your best clobber as the annual Southend Boardriders Club photo will be taken next comp (last at Maroubra for 2008) on the 27th of September. We will try and do it first thing in the morning so if you can make it, get down and have ya mug shot taken and etched into Southend history.
Due to a clash of dates with another local event the Local Council has forced the club to move forward the date of our final (away) comp of the season The final event of our season will now be held on the Saturday 18th October 2008.
With the Paul Baxter Shield over for another year we return to the traditional knock out competition this Saturday 30th August. With only 3 contest left this season it's time to go for broke if you want to lay claim to being the sikest surfer in your division. Forecasts call for clean 2ft waves to begin the day with the swell gradually increasing throughout the day.
80 surfers from all parts of the coast took part in the annual Baxter Shield tag event. Held in clean 3ft on a nice bank halfway between middle at Southend everyone had a ball surfing on old single and twin fin boards. The move away from the traditional individual surf event to the tag event format proved a big hit again and sowed the younger crew what teams events are all about.
