Welcome to the discussion forum. If you have no idea how to view and use a discussion forum you may find the instructions helpful. Otherwise, enjoy!
I've been keeping an eye on you boys and it looks like there's going to be some stiff competition in all divisions.
If I can offer you some advice from a nine times world champ it would be this .. Don't trim unless you are inside a keg. Don't expect points for speed swerves. Don't expect ANY points if you don't paddle out the back and get the solid waves. It seems to me no-one uses these forums, but I will keep posting here in the hopes that someone pays attention to me and not that goon Taj Burrow.
Good one Slats. Are you going to make it down for any comps this year, or are you 'too busy' like last year?
Enough of that goose.
So who's who in this years comp? I have been told that there has been a change in divisions, but more of that in News and perhaps in a different thread on these forums.
A Grade everyone will be keeping an eye on the old rippers like Boothy, Plattsy, and Conjuado to see if they can pull out some new school. The young guns Semo, Fletch, Karl and others will be a force to be reckoned with if what I have seen of their surfing over Summer is anything to go on. You can never rule out Matty O, who came second last season and who rips the small to medium stuff apart. The word is also out, if you can believe bald headed freaks, that DC is making a charge for the title and has been seen training hard in the dark at 5am.
B Grade will see the likes of Hke and Matt Jones, and pitted against some of the roughest nuts this side of Campbeltown. Most results from this division may well be sorted out at the pub well after the final hooter has sounded. I am seriously contemplating entering now that there is a B Grade, but I don't think I could get that thirsty.
There will also be some hot action from GMs with Tom North having to face off with the next generation of senior citizens Roy and Todd. This is always a very serious division and this year will be no different.
Juniors Jake, Hank and Harry had better pull some airs this year or they get no write up time from me.
I am also expecting big things from Vanessa, and the girls this year.
The cadets and micros should be as entertaining as always.
I'll be back here next week to update what transpired on the big day. Including who failed to impress, who went above and beyond expectations, and who blew up. As far as predictions go it looks like being 3ft in the morning and picking up to 5ft in the arvo. Bring it on Huey, I want to see some reef action for the finals.
Wednesday surf report ...
Looks like it could be very nice.
Ha not so much 'training' as 'tripping' - I was surfing with my mate Jim Beam, stuffed up the time and thought the sun was about to rise but it didn't get light until 6. Still it's not often you get Maroubra with no one out.
Hey Reporter, I thought you were going to do some write up about the comp. Were you even there on the day?
