Give your opinion about how the contest went, whether we should have stayed on the reef, what was good and what could be changed.
Yeah, I reckon that the contest directors at Quicksilver should have waited for the cyclone swell before I was knocked out .... I'm very disappointed because I would have loved to competed in 6-8ft Kirra.
The reef is always a good wave when it's on, but we made the right choice in moving - there is only so many points you can give for barrel dodging. It's a pity that the arvo wasn't as good for the finals but that's always the way it goes - plus the reef was no better in the arvo either.
I think the day was pretty good overall, would loved to have caught up with Slater again, but it does take a long time to get an appointemnt at advanced hair studios so I totally understand why he couldn't make it.
Agreed Rich. When we first moved further North it was the pick of the banks and held that way for most of the heats.
The only improvements I can think of are something you have suggested ... getting a printer to speed up heat draws, and maybe making up large display cards on a stand located near the flag with current heat number showing. Maybe something similar to what they have for lawn bowls scoring.
I reckon that 3x3 white tent in the trailer needs replacing or needs the punt - A mild steel tent for use on the beach was never going to last and last it didn't. Now it just takes up a load of room in the trailer. We should keep it for Paul Baxter etc, but that room in the trailer is better used for seats, printers, banners and all the other things in the meantime.
also, there were a ute load of plastic cups left behind that we cleaned up, probably mostly just used by the grommets but it would be a better idea if people brought down their own cup/mug/bottle and filled it with the water/cordial/gatorade we supply.
Hey maybe we should get travel mugs made up and sell the members, will save on plastic cup. Will give us old blokes something to put our 1st cuppa in on the way to the beach.
As for tents, i found a tent supplier that makes heavy duty tents. A 6x4 was only $1400. I had our one all season at the beach and is still like new. The ones i bought last year were $2500 and did not make a full season.
I have quite a few pix from the weekend. I will get the disk to Wes this week. Also some from B2B. Most are on FB.
Sorry this is so long.
Hey John, good to see you are sending your photos straight to the Southend IT department AKA Wes.Make sure you have a backup copy.
I have a number that I'll hand over to Epic this arvo, he can vet them and / or enhance them from the first comp.
I agree FootyGay ... Back when I was a World Tile contender I used to ram home half a dozen schooeys before my heats. Granted it was piss weak American beer, but that's better then the soy latte mochaccinos you fags have been guzzling. This year I've held back a bit and look where that's getting me. No friggin' where, that's where.
Anyway I rule, you suck, build a bridge and piss off.
