Back to reality

Just back from the North Shore where I rode some of the best waves of my life. After the pros left town the waves pumped and I worked on making sure I was the man out in the pipe lineup. After a few Karate fights (7 career fights - 7 Wins 0 Losses - 6 by the way of KO) and a few of the deepest barrels ridden by anyone in years I was considered "The Man". Move over Jamie O and the rest of the locals haoles. Everyone was saying "Roy is the man out at Pipe now". I held the mantle for a couple of weeks until the day I feared most finally arrived. My c/c was maxed. No cash out or credit available. That dirty wog Pete was not funding this trip anymore. I knew that my adventure was over and it was time to go home.

Arriving in Mascot and subjected to my umpteenth strip search 1st stop on the way home was straight to the Golden SANDS Hotel. It was a Friday night and all the characters were there. tightarse Brent, The balding Jay Brown, crazy Ray, even crazier Thompson, Epic Steph and the 2 fellas doing their darnest to impersonate former President Mark Windon, Wez and Hickey. Needless to say it was a great night with many crazy stories told. Man it was good to be home.

The following week Hke and the Boys headed down the coast to Wollongong for the NSW Jim Beam Tag Team Challenge. As the team manager Hke had some selection headaches. Who would he choose? Now he went down a list but all the fellas had every excuse in the book

Jay Brown - Going bald and cannot surf cause it may get too big

Kalvin - Hasn't been in the water for 3 years

Baz Chenhall - Gone walkabout

Masho - Had a bad experience in T2 and is still coming to terms with it

Max D - Moved to Gaysville

Ferris - Busy making it up to his girl after blowing up big time when she caught the Bouquet at Deano Musgrove's wedding

Epic Steph - Busy building a website abt himself http://epicsteph.multiply.com/

Hound - Busy being a supermodel

Sheppageese - A fool and doesn't know what day it is

Pip - Still on the cans at the mission with the lads from new years

Rich - Chased out out town for being a red head. Remember the saying Fanta Pants. "I'd rather be dead than red"

The team to represent Southend was Platts, Wez, Matt O Reilly, Owen Goggins & Adam “The Combover Shmear" Lawerence and their 1st up assignment was a tough one. Up against reigning champs Curl which fielded a team of WQS stars, Newport & Cronulla. Our heat was the last one of the day and by 3.30pm in was howling onshore & 1ft at best. We battled hard with the old hands Wez and Platts putting in superb efforts but overall these sloppy conditions didn't suit us at all. If it were a Southend Contest we would have only have run the U/10's and maybe the cadets. Overall it was a good day but I do have a bone to pick with the judges. How did Matt Bemrose from Curl Curl get 28/40 completing 2 turns on the waves he rode and other competitors got half his score for doing the same no of turns and even 360 aerials???? To be honest I thought Cronulla won the heat followed by us then Curl Curl.

Well when it was said and done Curl Curl came 1st on 78
2nd Cronulla - 63
3rd Newport - 48.6
4th Southend - 48.1

Well that's the way it goes sometimes. We'll definitely be better off for the experience and we'll be back again next year. That night was another messy on it in Wollongong. Hke was spotted doing Karate on some bouncers in the Glasshouse Hotel. Funny thing was they didn't even nearly kick him out after a masterful display of Karate. Platts was busy running the beach at midnight trying to get fit for next time, Adds booked a one way ticket to Hong Kong and Pete was reliving the late 80's & dancing like Michael Jackson at the Glasshouse but it was me who pulled the only chick of the weekend. A stunning blond with the best set of knockers I've seen in a while. Real of course. She won me over when she skulled 3 VB cans in a row and continued to put em away all night as if they were lemonades. My kinda woman.

Well not sure what the boys have planned for me this year but I'm sure if I want to fund another round the world trip or buy a boat in the Mentawaiis Southend will kick the bucket again.

God Bless you all
Roy
